Poetic Expression

‘Layers’ – they are so varied! So many ways to see, feel and describe things. A great word for expressing more about how life is viewed.

‘Whistle’ – so many ways a whistle sound arrives. A sound that can bring all sorts of feelings and responses. What whistles stand out for you?

‘Suspicious’ – what creates suspicion? What does it conjure in you? Like most things in life, there are many views. On the one hand suspicion can be a helpful thing, and in another moment it can be inhibiting.

‘Thunder’ – what is the first thing that comes to mind with this word? A thunderbolt of some sort? See what it brought to some of us at poetry.

Where does the word ‘paddock’ take you? It was wonderful that memories, feelings, ideas and realisations emerged.

‘Toast’ – the smell of or the sound of, which way do you go with this word? Once again, the amazing way in which a word helps us to express how we see the world, and how to creatively express what matters to us.

‘Connection’ – used and expressed in relation to so many things; physical, mental, emotional, spiritual and then there’s the electrical, magnetic type of connection. Loved where it took us.

‘Almost’ – an adverb that is used in relation to so many actions and instances; providing a sense of or feeling around many different emotions and possibilities.

‘Foreign’ – what does this conjure for you? It can relate to so many things and this week’s poems showed just that. It certainly led to a range of discussions around some very current topics and themes.

‘Winter’ – we are in the middle of it, so a good one for us in South Australia. So many mixed feelings about what this season brings.

‘Food’ – where does it take you? I’m sure food can take us on so many journeys, and it certainly did just that.

‘Shelf ‘ – so many feelings and possibilities when you let this word settle in you. The great thing is with a word like this, is that it can take you to discover you hadn’t felt or noticed before.
