Shadow is a regularly used metaphor to depict the colourless nature of something, or a lesser than whole. It can powerfully depict and emphasise messages, which can be seen throughout some of the prose and poems shared.
Pancakes (poetic expression)
How do you feel about ‘pancakes’ and what does it conjure for you? For many the smell, the shape the stories to tell. This word, for sure did open some doors, into the past and what a blast, it was. The great thing is we chat and share about our lives, our feelings, our thoughts and the way we see life. We also open up to the views of others, and from that it expands ourselves.
Secrets (poetic expression)
This week’s topic on ‘secrets’ brought some interesting perspectives. There were many feelings about the nature of a secret, and its impact. Even the behaviours surrounding the thought of a secret… Often it seems to attract attention.Once again, this topic had us delve into our selves, our lives, our past and address or have a conversation with it, which we have come to know how powerful that is.
Cage – poetic expression
It is true to say, that we often feel the want to strive for freedom, hence any sense of being caged, may not seem appealing. What types of cages are there? Caged animals was the first things that came to my mind, and yet these are are not the only type of cages.
Spice (poetic expression)
The topic of spice once again, brought an opportunity to express life through a different lens. This is the beauty of the poetic expression.
It was interesting to see how each spice can be used in many ways to express something else about life. Dill for example… have you ever used this word to describe this about a person even though it is a herb or spice?
Elite (poetic expression)

Flaws – poetic expression
This was a topic that brought out a lot of issues that underpin many of the ails we experience in life today. With the need for perfection, doing it right, fitting in, being like others… it can leave personal and individual uniqueness seem flawed.
Sapphire (poetic expression)
It was wonderful to find out more about sapphires. That’s the beauty of these sessions, it can path the way to learn things we may not otherwise have researched. Of course it also takes us somewhere, and even brings up things in our subconscious that say a little about us and the way we see the world. What do you know about ‘sapphires’? I learnt a lot about what they symbolise. I loved the discussion around how gems are extracted and the role they play in defining status in many instances.
Blind (poetic expression)
It was on ANZAC day that we came together with our expression about the word ‘blind’. Some would see the connection between the two, while it wasn’t intended. For our ANZAC soldiers landing at the Gallipoli Peninsula in Turkey, on that fateful day in 1915, in a way were ‘blind sided’ by the miscalculations in the planning, that lead many soldiers to their deaths.
