Poetic Expression

‘Window’ – a great word to reflect on this week. So many ways we use the word window, and quite significant with meaning and application.

‘Survive’ – a great word that took us all in different directions within the poetry and the discussion; about life, the planet, inanimate objects, viruses, the spirit of humanity, impermanence. A great way to express something about how we see and experience the world.

Oasis, is the word this week. It took many of us to search out a little more about the nature of an oasis, and brought many insights and took us in different directions. An absolute amazing phenomena, beautiful in its presence, in amongst the harshness of the environment around.

The word ‘spontaneous’ once again brought us to different feelings and memories that inspired some of the prose and poetry this week.
What does it mean in the context of our lives, the way we live, or engage things around us. How does it feel? What does it bring? Does it have value? Does it have risk?

Actually the nature of the stories, showed a lot about ourselves. The way our pets became our pets, what they brought to us and our lives. It became evident that our pets brought us some form of discovery and learning about ourselves and relationships.

We all agreed there is so much what could be termed as ‘magic’ within what we experience and how we live each day. When you think of the intricacy of the natural world around us, the beauty, the synchronicities, the capacity to renew, grow and change, it’s truly incredible.

What causes the fog in your life? The cloudiness that prevents you from seeing things as they are. Perhaps a stage of life, such as in later years, when stress is upon you, during treatment, illness or post trauma?

What is like in your ‘inside’ world? Sometimes a word like this, can support your own exploration of yourself… This weeks poetry had us follow our own inside feelings in many ways.

Watching a beard grow over the weeks, was the inspiration behind our word this week. A bit of fun and nice to enjoy some light approaches to this word. What does a beard conjure up for you?

The combination of knitting with wool to weave and bind, came to the fore. Of course other things that are knitted together did arise, for example stitches that knit together a broken heart…

It is true to say, that we often feel the want to strive for freedom, hence any sense of being caged, may not seem appealing. What types of cages are there? Caged animals was the first things that came to my mind, and yet these are are not the only type of cages.

And just like that, the word ‘frame’ arrives and in an instant it begins to lead us somewhere. Over the week, it may be a topic that we’ve thought about, or a style we would like to explore or something else that makes its way clear, to the word ‘frame’ to surface.
