Spare Me

your compliments
your offer of coffee
your insincerity
your smarmy smile
your false humour
your superior air
your sales spiel
you’re not my best friend
you’re creating a world of despair
all I want is my spare tyre repaired

My Queue

Thoughts crowding in on me
My head is in a spin
Can’t even concentrate
To return to my placid place
Where all is in a queue
Must create some head space
So I won’t feel so askew

The Culture of Spare

To avoid discomfort
Of living without
We prepare for
The in-case moments
Eliminating doubt
With spares…
For all sorts of wares
Tyres, pens, batteries, wine
Food, money, even time

Clutter and congestion
Has become way of life
For many…

Yet for those without a penny
The concept of spare
Is rare
For there is not any
