Attenborough’s World
The exquisite camera work
Took us to oceans afar
Where we could see
The intricacies
And become more aware
Of the space that marine life shares
How they engage the race
How they maintain the pace
To survive
And stay alive
With their Enemy their foe
What else does it show?
It shows the reliance
Between them all
The coloured the bright
The big and the small
Because they all play a role
In the food chain
Schools accept their order
They don’t complain
They do their best
To do what they do
But are put to the test
In these oceans blue
As the ripple effect
Of temperatures rising
And the plastic
That is compromising
The natural cycles…
There’s no denying
That man’s choices
Are leading to
Ecologies dying…

Inner Voice
born into the mafia school
always their rules, that’s all I knew
spoilt with an abundance of wealth
grew up fast, learnt the meaning of stealth
i held ultimate respect, had a voice like stone
never had solitude of my own
to extort my neighbour’s
doesn’t sit well
to deceive the school I would go a hell
of unimaginable measures
what can I do? Who can I tell?
feeling the need to paralyse myself
from all the death and destruction
caused by me and the family I know
with such torment it’s time for me to go
to a place where I feel no sorrow
