Above – poetic expression

Above. Above what? This preposition was used to support many expressions this week. The word was aptly threaded into themes at the forefront of people’s minds.
It was another way to draw out what is happening for us, and create ways to express that.
Where does the word take you?
Once again, we enjoyed some great conversations around so many things. The expression really opens up the mind to see something else.
These weekly sessions provide us all the chance to express through writing, poems, or conversation. The word usually conjures so many powerful themes that we discuss throughout.
The word next week is a word you chose from the colours of the rainbow; it could be red, orange, yellow, blue, indigo or violet (no green, we have done this word previously).

Hope to see you there.

Above all else

(listen to Peter’s poem here)

Above all else
After the rockets have dropped
come the sounds of loss
as love ones cries of despair
rips through the aftershocks
In death the innocents
scream “why me?”
When  did we allow this Insanity to rule our Humanity?

How High

Feel the freedom, the awe
of not being on terra firma
Soaring like an eagle
Way up in the sky

Drifting along in a bright balloon
With so much to absorb
It takes one’s breath away
To feel the view from afar

‘Up above the world so high
Like a diamond in the sky’
What an outstanding way to shine
What an audience to have

Imagination all around
Resting on a crescent moon above

The Cycle

We are just passing through
Like others before us and those to follow
 It’s an ongoing cycle
The way of evolution

It has been happening since the beginning of time
Knowing the journey of the past to now

We can acknowledge our role as humans in this cycle
Why are we here?
To uphold the cycle!

The universe, solar system, planet, seasons, weather cycles
All that exists is contributing to the natural forces of this eternal cycle

We contribute by existing!
As does every species, above and below

In nature around us
How we exist, interact with and live each moment
affects how we contribute to the cycle

The negative and destructive contributions
Won’t destroy the cycle
The cycle lives on

The cycle adapts
It never dies

If we don’t learn this basic truth
To nurture and live with the cycles
before long

It won’t be just us who will die

It’s now a human race…
