ROGYBIV – poetic expression

This week we each chose a colour that stood out for us.
For some it was about sharing a favourite colour, while for others it was about the science behind the spectrum of light that produces the most exquisite array in nature.
Colours enliven our world in so many ways. They can conjure feelings and sensations, such a wonderful world.
Our poetic expression session itself was filled with colour of a different type; the colour of language, stories, honest expression and sharing.
The word next week is ‘sway’.
Let’s see where this goes!
Hope to see you there.

Green-less

Let me sew a seed of doubt
A rainbow on South Terrace
has appeared without
the colour green
How could this come about?
My sources seem to believe
it was supposedly seen
by a poet with Iridophobia*
or something similar to that
I’m a bit of a sceptic
so I don’t accept what that could mean
I sought some professional opinion
that disputes that this is a fact
You see a rainbow lacking green
can’t be called a rainbow intact
My experts advise me
she should seek immediate help
She might be suffering from the dreaded
Metrophobia** or similar thoughts

Indigo Child

She feels the pain
Of being stripped
Tortured
With no regard, remorse
Or consideration
Unaware…

She feels the pain
Of tears and cries unheard
The music of life destroyed
And natural cycles disturbed

She feels the pain
From those who have passed
Who were unable to break through
The horrid chant
Of callous greed and harm

She feels the pain
From their incessant whispers
Don’t give up’ they say

She feels the pain
Precious and rare
The indigo child

What’s your favorite painting?
I like the one that full of bright colored brush strokes.
It reminds me that we are all appearing in this world in our own unique way.
With our specific shade, tint, and tone, we form our own type of energy that only we can bring and shine in this world.
Ah, what about the next brush stroke you are going to make?
Do you know the answer?
I don’t know.
Isn’t this mysterious fact wonderful?

Turn Around

Feeling so blue
What can I do
I’m as low
As I can go
Oh look
I’m glowing yellow
Feel the warmth
Of being mellow
What a turn around
Happiness is the key
Much rather be yellow
That’s the colour for me

Reflection

so inviting on a warm clear night
relaxing in the stillness
of sounds and sight
feeling complete calmness
as I drape my eyes over
a blue moon on the lake

Colours I Like

When I was in high school, I was not slim.
I was told to wear something black,
to hide,
to cover up my unpleasant body figure.

But when I came to Australia,
I noticed people here are so different.
No matter they are big or small,
they seem to be very comfortable and proud of wearing anything they like.
I started to think,
maybe beauty is more than what I see physically,
it can also be a state of mind.
No matter what body shape you have or the clothes you wear,
even if it’s a wore out cloth,
if you are confident enough,
you can still shine.

Luckily, recent years, I started to change too.
To be free.
To choose the colours I like.
And I also discovered something in this process.
I realised,
clothes are more than clothes,
it can be an ice breaker,
because it can reflect our taste and personality.

So, what colours do I like?
Hmm, a lot of bright colours, such as yellow.
Not because yellow is a royal colour in China,
a colour represents soil or a colour which can bring you gold.
It’s simply because seeing yellow makes me feel bright and happy.

I am so glad,
finally I can choose something not for anybody else,
But just for my own joy.
