The Life Trail
The life trail
Can we regain the spark
That we felt as a child
Before we became contained
When we were free and wild
Can we let go of hurts from the past
Others are probably hurting too
That would make life so much easier
Rather than feeling blue
Can we stop repeating old painful stories
They are well and truly past
Can we enjoy the moment we are in
Because we know they do not last
Can we stop the need for showing off our lives
Why does everyone need to know?
When we do things just for our own joy
We can feel a genuine inner glow
Can we walk the life trail
Without fear of what’s ahead
Rather than a sense of dread
See it as an adventure instead
Can we find the way
To be kind in what we do
I know some days that may be hard
But why not try something new
Can we notice what nature brings
Every day something inspiring appears
When we feel the magic of that
It can wipe away all of our fears
Can we hear the subtle messages
from those we cannot see
In a feather, the wind, in a tree or a cloud
A symbol that speaks to you out loud
Can we keep our humanness
With our hearts open to feel
The amazing mystery this life brings
We hope machines do not steal…
Can we?

All in a Day
It’s hard enough working on the land
Always repairs to be done
Come on Rusty give us a hand
So fortunate to have a son
Who is passionate about how the farm is run
Today it’s the truck that has come to harm
Stopped dead in it’s tracks
We just made it home
Rusty enjoys helping his dad
As they lift the bonnet to explore
Well… it’s not the fan belt, plenty of oil
Let’s give the spark plugs a clean
Grab the kero son, we’ll give it a go
They work together, chat awhile
Dad let’s me start the engine up
And rev so loud I can hardly hear
It was the spark plugs after all
They now look shining and clean
Walking along the trail
That leads to the house
Mum has lunch ready
And it sure looks grouse…
Now the next job I’m not so keen
It’s the shearing shed that needs a clean

My Love Poem to Spark
Did you know I really love the word spark?
Because behind it
Lies endless possibilities.
When something sparks our curiosity,
That’s how inventions are born.
Imagine if our ancestors hadn’t wondered
What would happen
If they added holes to a piece of bamboo—
We might never have heard the beautiful sound of a flute.
That’s why noticing matters.
Noticing those small moments.
Following our curiosity is crucial.
We don’t always need to wait for big moments to act.
A spark is enough.
In China, we have a saying:
星星之火,可以燎原
A single spark can ignite a prairie fire.
So, let’s stay sensitive to the sparks within us.
Take action,
Follow them,
And see what unfolds.
