The Life Train
Waiting at the station
It finally arrives…
Excitement brewing
We get on board
Settle down
Look around
Begin to chat
About this and that
Listening to the locals
There are tourists too
Sounds like
A global orchestra
An international zoo
All coming together
A moment in time
Feels so sublime
This path we share
On our common fare
Until we depart
To restart
The next part of our journey
More people to meet
With ‘buon giorno’ we greet
Suffice to say
Its been a great way
To share the ride
With others who decide
To be in the same space
As we all embrace
Life…

A Fancy Affair
A famous event in our home town
It’s fancy dress we all gather around
The fun begins as we board the train
A party on wheels it’s a really big deal
There’s Sherlock Holmes with Dr Watson
Dr Livingston I presume
Oh and there’s a dragon
It’s the postie I bet
And look there’s Mary Antionette
A gangster with a tarty girl
I’m tipping it’s the real estate man
He always did look shifty
Captain Cook with Sir Joseph Banks
A colourful clown complete with pranks
I’m a kangaroo and out to impress
To win first prize would be just the best
One thing I have discovered for sure
It’s just too hard to keep hopping around
Next year I will have two feet on the ground

Springtime
The hum of voices become silent
As the curtain is slowly raised
To expose a glistening orchestra
With a shining piano on the stage
I melt like a blob of butter
As the soft music begins
So gentle and serine
The piano is now heard
Enough to make you cry
My emotions have no measure
Was that a lark I heard fly by?
