Heaven on Earth…
I didn’t know it was the day
The angels were coming to say
Make your way back…
And before my eyes
I watched you fade
Your body shut down
As you prepared for your next journey
While a light shone around you
And with your last breath
I witnessed an energy that I could only describe as your ‘soul’
Leave your body
In that moment I knew you weren’t gone
You had just changed form
Entering into the world of the unseen
But still around
And the signs still remain
in the deepest of feelings
When our spirits connect in the memories
The music we played
The chats we engaged
The places we visited
The food we shared
And in the whispers of the wind
Lies the legacy of
your humour and humility
Your every day simplicity
I often grin
In awe of the life we are in
Of this continuous cycle,
This ongoing flow
It has helped me to let go
And let life happen
On the heaven we call earth…

Another World
i cover icy fingers
with warm thick gloves
stop watch in hand
i step up to the stand
hearing hooves approach
through the damp dense mist
i look out on the course
how moving to witness
the finest horses in the land
track work begins, i’m ready
in the daylight hours
time to groom and feed
then off to the house
to discuss…
Blackjack did well
you could certainly tell
Blue Heaven needs
to go out for a spell
Minnie Moo is right ready
will enter her this week
nice and steady
a much needed breakfast begins
to the chatter of the racing world
