Yesteryear…
Do you remember
games like red rover all over
And tunnel ball
It didn’t matter if you were tall or small
These games were fun for all
And when we would run to our friends
On a sunny day
Free to roam
Not going home
Until the street lamps glowed
We embraced the adventure
As I remember
It was a day down at the creek
When my friend spied a swing
Attached to a tree
We were having such fun
And didn’t see some boys behind a bush
With a slug gun!
Only when it was fired
Did we realise we were
Being spied upon
And as fast as a bullet
We scurried away
Adrenalin pumping from the foray
I realise it’s such a shame
How we’ve lost the way
In our lives today
To engage without fear
Like our yesteryears
Can we regain
(And not refrain from)
A life to excite
That brings out the light
Within us…

My World
with tunnel vision
my imaginary world
comes into play
it helps to get me through the day
as i sneak into the room
hop up on the bed
listen to the whirring sounds
travelling around my head
the vision that i hold
keeps me in good stead
I must be strong to the core
As i slowly walk to the door
