Bananas

Time for bed
Brings that feeling of dread
Each night
It feels like a fight
Churning over the day
Can’t find the way
To shut down my mind
Couldn’t it be so kind
To slow down and rest
Rather than feeling stressed
Watching the clock
Always a shock
Reaching the early hours
As time devours
My last opportunity
To improve my immunity
But alas it is not to be
I can not break free
Another night
Of not getting it right
What else can I try
Is there research to spy
Well I ask AI
And to my surprise
It said
Before bed
Eating a banana
Could be the answer

TLaB 15th September 2025

Time flies

Excitement in the household
First day at school on the morrow
Hoping there will be lots of smiles
No tears or feelings of sorrow
Trimming covers for new books
Anxious to see what they will hold
It’s ever so clear a new phase is here
Can’t believe it my heart’s in a tizz

For now it’s bedtime, off we go
All tucked in sweet dreams
Dimming the light I turn at the door
A tear falls I am overwhelmed
For this little one that I adore
After a restless night, suddenly it’s time
We head off to school
As I hear our clock chime

Sitting in the classroom
No tears just smiles
We say our goodbyes
Then I head off home
Feeling so lost and alone

What a long day
At last school is over
So anxious to hear all the news
With so much to tell, I listen
So relieved the day went so well
Except…
Mum you forgot my banana!
So proud of my little legend

Trimming

It’s interesting to observe how life evolves.
Growing up, I thought I should try everything and make countless friends.
But as I grow older, I find myself trimming
Trimming down to the core.
I used to wonder: How do some people reach that level of excellence?
Hours of dedication.
But where does the time come from?
From not doing everything else.
That was always hard for me.
I liked so many things: writing, singing, speaking, and making videos.
Videos are trendy now.
So I thought I should do that too.
I enjoyed it, sort of.
And people said I was good.
But deep down, it felt like pushing.
Like I was wasting time.
Someone once told me the way to tell liking from loving is simple:
Ask yourself, would you do it for free?
What an easy way to trim down.
So I’m restarting singing lessons.
And this Sunday, I’ll begin learning a new instrument
Finally, a Chinese instrument: the Guzheng.
Plucking its strings feels like stepping back into ancient China.
That connection is surreal,
as if it was already written in my soul.
I don’t know how far I will go.
But I’m enjoying the trimming process
focusing only on what my heart truly desires,
and doing it with joy and wonder.
Let’s see what happens.
