The Paradox of Life
Everything I have learnt
Has helped me grow
But I can see
That this may not be
I now know
that I don’t actually know…
If bigger is better
Or more is less
If my actions matter
If I drink more water I won’t be thirsty or stressed
If i eat more food I won’t be hungry
If I get hurt it won’t bring me good
If I have more wealth I’ll be happier
If I know myself I won’t lose myself
Instead I know the answer will be
maybe yes maybe no
Because the way things go
It will only show in time
From the ebb and flow
Of all things combined

Violet whispers
Wisteria clusters
Swaying beneath the canopy
Blowing in the wind
Surrounded by the scent
Of rhythmical notes
A simple ballad
A magical tune
Of a flower in bloom’
Good Friends Good Times
many years ago I worked in the city
the building was so old, it is such a pity
that I didn’t appreciate
the grandeur of its structure
it used to be a bank
now it is The Paradox
a luxurious hotel!
i would love to sit there
and admire that grand old place
to see the changes before me
observing everyone having
a jolly good time
to recall the days that were mine
fifty years ago i worked there
graced those walls each day
still have friends from those times
the ballad of the bank will always sway
through those corridors
come what may
now i have a different view
of that grand old building
that i once new
